26 May 2010: Sprint of the 2010 Bavaria Tour in HallbergmoosA touch of the Tour de France in Hallbergmoos!On 26 May 2010, the Bavaria Tour (Bayern Rundfahrt) will pass through the municipality of Hallbergmoos on its first stage from Erding to Viechtach, and along with the tour, many big stars on the international cycling scene. For the first time in Hallbergmoos, the SDK Sprint will be carried out in Theresienstraße where City Hall is. During this sprint, the three fastest cyclists have the opportunity to win valuable time credits and points for the Blue SDK Jersey of the best sprinter. The 112 cyclists, who reach speeds of up to 70 km/h during this sprint, are expected around 11:05 in the morning. A total of 16 top teams are on the go from 26 to 30 May on the 750-km long stretch. The stretch starts in Erding and leads through Hallbergmoos. Other towns on the route are Viechtach, Bayreuth, Hersbruck, Berching, and Fürstenfeldbruck, where the Bavaria Tour will end on the Sunday after Whitsunday. That so many of the cyclists are top-flight underscores the importance of the Bavaria Tour. In addition to the German team Milram with ex-world champion Gerald Ciolek and the 2008 Bavaria Tour winner Christian Knees, the top teams include the HTC-Columbia team with former time trial world champion Bert Grabsch and former world champion Peter Velits (Slovakia), the Saxo-Bank team with three-time Tour winner Jens Voigt, and the Cervelo TestTeam with Tour de France stage winner Heinrich Haussler.
